Sports Nutrition for Young Athletes: Eat Like a Champion

sports nutrition

Last week my new sports nutrition book, Eat Like a Champion: Performance Nutrition for Your Young Athlete, was released.

It’s a book about sports nutrition for young athletes–kids and teens ages 8 to 18. During this time frame, loads of kids are playing sports, but at the same time, they are growing and developing. This makes fueling them for sports a unique endeavor.

I cover everything from their changing nutritional needs to their motivation to eat well, and the challenges they face as young athletes living in today’s food centric world.

My intention is to fill the nutrition gap that exists for young athletes. To that end, I have included as much research as I could find about recreational and elite athletes, young children to high schoolers, and everything in between.

Managing diabetes or food allergies with sports?

Afraid your young athlete is too thin, or too heavy?

Frustrated by injury?

Just want to know about the best foods and the worst ones for young athletes?

It’s all in my book. And more.

The success of a book largely depends on good, meaningful content (which I think this one has) and a title that is familiar and top of mind.

My goal was to write a useful and meaningful book, give people a sports nutrition resource that was reliable and steeped in evidence for their young athlete.

Guest Post Round-Up

I have written a slew of guest posts on a variety of blogs and websites that give you an idea of what’s in the book—the details around sports nutrition for young athletes, my philosophy, and some practical approaches that favor good, effective nutrition for sports.

I am very grateful to the bloggers and supporters who agreed to let me write a post for their respective audiences.

Be sure to check out some of these posts and, as always, if you like them, “like” them, and share!
