In fact, at one point in my life, I made it a point to collect cookbooks. I always have my eye out for a good one.
Today, I fell in love again. I am more than thrilled to share this gem.
It’s a beauty.
A cookbook like no other I have seen.
Cookbook is an inadequate word actually–not descriptive enough to showcase what this book is really about. Yes, this book is loaded with beautiful pictures of more than 250 kitchen-tested recipes, something that will surely draw you in.
But this book has so much more.
The Food Lover’s Healthy Habits Cookbook by Janet Helm, RD and the editors of Cooking Light, not only helps you create healthy meals, it is designed to help you break your unhealthy habits and replace them with healthy ones.
Struggling to get more whole grains in your diet? Eat more fish and healthier fats? Want to be better about exercising, but don’t know where to begin? Need help with kitchen techniques and skills?
You’re not alone. The Food Lover’s Healthy Habits Cookbook addresses and tackles these common barriers to becoming a healthier person, so you can move forward, and not stay stuck in negative health patterns.
You’ll find real people (Cooking Light readers) with everyday diet challenges, who get expert nutrition advice and tips, inspiring you to adopt healthy habits. And, you’ll get the advice of over 50 nutrition and fitness experts, bloggers and chefs. I’m one of them–a featured blogger and nutrition expert helping readers and their kids eat more fish (page 189).
What I think you’ll find most helpful is the organization of the book—each chapter outlines one healthy habit and provides strategies, tips, guidelines and recipes, while addressing consumer confusion on a number of vexing concepts such as Omega-3 fats and protein.
Not only will you get a cookbook chock-full of recipes, you’ll get the supporting nutrition information as well, something I like to call the ‘Why’ behind nutrition recommendations.
